Vaccinated Travelers

Effective 2 March 2022, The Bahamas removed on-island testing protocols as a result of declining cases. 

 

Unvaccinated Travelers

  • Effective 2 March 2022, The Bahamas removed on-island testing protocols as a result of declining cases. 
  • Daily Health Questionnaire: All unvaccinated persons traveling into and throughout The Bahamas will be required to complete a short daily Health Questionnaire.
    • The questionnaire must be completed upon arrival and each day thereafter for up to 14 days, or the duration of their stay, whichever is shorter.
    • This includes the day of departure if traveling less than 14 days.

Children and Infants

All children 2 years of age and older wishing to enter The Bahamas are required to obtain a COVID-19 test, with a negative result, within THREE days of arrival in The Bahamas.

  • Effective 20 February 2022, all travelers, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to take a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test on the 5th day after their arrival.
  • The day of arrival is considered Day 1 of a person’s stay.
  • The COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests are easy, quick and will yield results in 60 minutes or less with results being provided electronically via SMS text message and/or email.

Visitors departing on or before 48 hours will not be required to obtain this test. This test replaces the existing Day-5 Rapid Antigen Test.

Bahamas Entry Requirements

  • Proof of full vaccination will be required, such as CDC or government-issued vaccine record card.
  • The Bahamas Government (Bahamas Ministry of Health) will only accept vaccinations by Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca at this time.

To be considered fully vaccinated, persons must meet these qualifications: Both doses of Moderna, Pfizer, or AstraZeneca vaccine plus a 14-day immunization period since the last dose or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine plus 14-day immunization period since the last dose.

  • The day you take your test is considered “Day Zero”.
  • Children 2 years and older must apply for a Travel Health Visa under the profile of their Parent or Guardian.
  • Children under 2 years of age are exempt from all testing requirements.
  • All Travelers will be required to apply for a Bahamas Health Travel Visa at travel.gov.bs regardless of vaccination status.
  • The Travel Health Visa fees are listed below. The fees are inclusive of the Day 5 Rapid Antigen Test (when applicable) as well as mandatory Trip-Interruption Health Insurance.
  • A Bahamas Travel Health Visa will be valid for six (6) months for vaccinated travelers, allowing for multiple trips on one visa.

$40 – Visitors Staying up to four nights and five days
$40 – Non-Vaccinated Citizens and Returning Residents
$10 – Vaccinated Citizens and Residents of the Bahamas
$60 – Unvaccinated Visitors staying more than four nights
FREE – Children 10 and Under

  • If unvaccinated Visitors stay beyond 4 nights and 5 days, a Rapid Antigen Test will be required.
  • This test will be available in all Out Island Destinations (example: Staniel Cay Yacht Club will be offering the 5th-day test to Hotel and Marina Guests, as well as travelers in the area).
  • The wearing of masks and social distancing guidelines remain in effect.

Vaccinated Travelers

  All fully vaccinated US citizens or foreign nationals wishing to enter the United States are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than ONE day prior to travel back into the US.

Unvaccinated Travelers

All unvaccinated US citizens, who are 2 years and older, wishing to re-enter the United States are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than ONE day prior to travel back into the US.  Please see below for more information and timelines.

Current international flight restrictions are in place for unvaccinated non-US citizens.  Please click here if you are a non-US citizen to find out if you are eligible to re-enter the United States.

Children and Infants

All unvaccinated children who are US citizens over the age of 2 who wish to re-enter the United States are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than ONE day before travel back into the US.

**All children, under the age of 2, are exempt from any testing requirements.

Visitors departing  the Bahamas on or before 48 hours will not be required to obtain this test.

MAKERS AIR PASSENGERS: IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION

 

  • All Makers Air passengers are REQUIRED to upload their negative test results 24 hours prior to their departure flight back to the US.  Passengers who do not provide this will be denied boarding.

 

  • If you are unsure about what is required prior to your travel, click here to answer a few questions and you will be told exactly what is needed to board a flight to the United States!   Be sure to select the option that applies for each traveler, including children, for a customized response.
  • You must be fully vaccinated to travel to the United States by plane if you are a non-US citizen, non-US immigrant. Only limited exceptions apply.  Please be sure to review the International Travel Requirements carefully or you could be denied boarding
  • The current Bahamas Travel Health Visa includes your departure rapid antigen test, which can be obtained at numerous locations throughout the Bahamas.
